Homeless Man

I see a man looks older than his years
a broken soul forgotten by
those who worry about plastic surgery and materialism.
Worn out face is hard to read
who knows his story, how he came to
be a wandering soul amongst a selfish creed
Living from hand to mouth
day to day
meal to meal
rain to shine
not consumed by politics or trends
or even of how to mend
humiliation dehumanisation pain.
Numbed by too many cold Beirut nights
sleeping on cardboard, empty stomach
man cant even walk straight but no ones looking
its easier to pretend he's not there, isn't real, not our problem.
One day that man
He could be me, could be you.
