George W. Bush gave up golf to honor Iraq's American dead

Reuters ran an interesting story today, saying US President George W. Bush gave up golf to honor American soldiers killed in the Iraq war. The story reads as follows:

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Tuesday he quit playing golf in 2003 out of respect for the families of Americans killed in the war in Iraq.
"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf," Bush said in an interview with Yahoo and Politico.com.
"I feel I owe it to the families to be as -- to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal," he said.
Bush said his last round of golf was in August 2003 when he was informed that a truck bomb had wrecked the U.N. headquarters in Baghdad, killing 22 people, including U.N. envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello.
"They pulled me off the golf course and I said, it's just not worth it anymore to do," Bush said.

How selfless and kind of you to give up golf, which we all know you love, Mr Bush. Life must be hard for you. May I suggest you honor the Iraqis left dead as a result of a decade of sanctions and the Allied invasion in a similar way? The website Iraq Body Count gives up to 91,094 Iraqis as documented civilian deaths- and there are still many mass graves to be unearthed. The Washington Post published a story which cited 655,000 as a possible death toll. Mr. Bush, for those Iraqis and American soldiers you helped kill, you should give up hamburgers, vacations, your Texas ranch, hot showers. And maybe your presidency, too.
